About This Project

Khadija Abdalla Bajaber’s The House of Rust, the first winner of the Graywolf Press African Fiction Prize, took attentive care and patient collaboration across several years to bring to life.

For this project, which mixed fantastical sea creatures, Mombasa’s crowded streets, and Hadrami culture, I relied on imaginative narrative restructuring, deft positioning, and custom design to balance each element and reveal hidden depths in the client’s vision.
